Yep, that's right people...I am just a JV Catholic as an Episcopaleon, and I wouldn't change it for anything!
Today, the Pope...yes, THAT POPE...managed to screw up all of New York and its surrounding airports so that planes had to be delayed, etc and/or couldn't get in or out at all! Consequently, as Kyle and I sat in Bangor International Airport for over 3.5 hours waiting to fly out with our Stand-by tickets, we were resolute that we were GOING to get to Tampa today! Alas, I would not be writing this blog if that were only so.
Just as we were one foot from the plane door, and I MEAN ONE FOOT, my friend Bob, whose "buddy passes" we were flying on calls me and says it is really tight in Newark (Continental's hub airport) and that all the pilots/crew/staff that HAD flights earlier were now bumping folks like us and we would probably get stuck in Newark until tomorrow afternoon, latest. No thanks!!! So, we picked up our bags, ripped up our stand by passes and "stood and waved bye" to the plane! Oh well....nothing ventured nothing gained!
So, we are still in the great state of Maine...hoping for the good weather that has been predicted so I can do my yard work, and get the rest of my flooring laid down. Presently, my refrigerator is sitting at the top of my stairs in my LIVING ROOM waiting for little brother, sib #4 Chris to finish the job he started. My bathroom looks GREAT! I love it, and cannot wait for the kitchen to look as nice.
Beware Mainers....a new 15 year old is now legally on the road as a "permitee"...that's right, Kyle Libbey has his driver's permit now. Only missed 8 questions out of 100 on the written. Of course, his Mom will have to teach him to drive a standard, cause that's all I have at the moment (still waiting for his buddy's Dad to find me that used Jeep Liberty)...so that is what else I will be doing this week...teaching Junior how to drive all over again! It will be fun........................I hope.
Also, to brag MY child up a bit, he made High Honors this quarter...all A's and one high B+ (in Spanish....HONORS SPANISH that is)....I am very proud of his efforts. When the boy puts his mind to it, he can pull all A's...he just sits back and follows a bit too much sometimes, but he is catching on, I think. Looking forward to seeing THAT report card!!! May have to frame it! haha
Ok...hitting the sack now...tired from being up early for church, then sitting at BIA for so long....OH...that reminds me! Kyle was also selected to be one of only two crucifers at the new Bishop's consecration on May 3rd!!! I really thought we were too late, but apparently, someone liked what they saw on his application. There were other positions like torch bearors, banner carriers and streamer carriers, but Kyle listed crucifer as his number one choice, and he got it! The minister at St. Lukes, in Portland, was very nice, and we are looking forward to meeting her and Bishop-elect Lane in a couple of weeks. I am hoping to find another ticket for Mom...would like someone else to share this with me....as it stands now, I only have one seat, unless I park cars, greet or usher at the service...something I just may end up doing. What a great experience for Kyle...I don't think he will really grasp it until he sees all the pageantry involved with this....I am excited, I know that! So, it really IS good to be an Episcopaleon afterall!!! hahaha
