Ended up in the E.R. in Bangor yesterday morning with a raging infection in my latest suture line. It was looking more swollen than it had been, and quite red, so after sitting on it and just watching for any changes, I finally decided it was time to go. Called the Dr. and spoke with the on-call LPN who strongly suggested I go to the ER, and after a little thought, and more pain, I figured I better....Good thing!
I was put on two different antibiotics because the attending P.A. wanted to be sure it would be taken care of and not be some resistant bacteria. He took a culture, so depending on what that shows, I may be able to drop one of the meds in a day. Meanwhile, the sulfur drug (or possibly the Keflex) is killin' me...I could not get up for more than 4 minutes yesterday without feeling like I was either going to pass out or be sick....or both! Today is better, but I can't walk on it again...feels like I had surgery all over again! Worst case scenario, I am rejecting the allograph, but that seems doubtful since it has been over a month since the surgery. However, without treatment, I could have risked losing it....gotta see my Dr. today or tomorrow hopefully to be sure it will be alright.
So, in the meanwhile, I am sitting here with my foot up in the air....YET AGAIN! Will this ever end for me???!!!
